Ecuadorian sport: conflicts and evolution

The present study aimed to highlight the evolution of Ecuadorian sports across different disciplines, a phenomenon evidenced during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Ecuadorian representatives won two gold medals and one silver, marking a historic achievement for the country. Simultaneously, the study analyzed possible reasons why, despite these accomplishments, there is insufficient support from the government and various committees to help athletes perform at their highest level. The study employed a descriptive method, addressing key points such as background and research to identify the reasons behind this issue in Ecuador’s sports sector. As can be seen in some extracts obtained from interviews, athletes complain about the lack of adequate support from entities or organizations, unlike football, which has had more support. Ecuador is a country with high sporting potential. Despite adversities, its athletes have achieved notable successes, as demonstrated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
