Objective: To redesign minor games for the contribution to the development of basic motor skills in second grade from physical education.
Methods: The sample used for this research was a group of 20 second grade students, representing 33.3% (8 girls and 12 boys) of the Ramón Ríos Montalvo Primary School. Research methods included: survey, interview, document analysis, observation, specialist criteria.
Results: The initial diagnosis showed that second grade children have difficulties in developing basic motor skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching. The games were redesigned to improve basic motor skills in second grade children, by combining several skills in one game and combining several games in one to achieve the objectives. The specialists consider the proposal of redesigned games to be quite adequate for the development of basic motor skills in second grade students and consider that it has applicability.
Conclusions: The redesigned games effectively addressed second graders' motor skill challenges and were deemed practical and beneficial by specialists for improving their basic abilities.
